Paying for accomodation

I've just extend my credit card financial amount to 50,000 THB. This is the preparation of reserving accomodation which will cost 250 £. This deposit will be returned upon the finish of the contact (i.e. next year).

I aim to choose following houses:
  1. Richmond
  2. Morgan Court
  3. Holland Annexe
This because I want the en-suite, e.g. bath-room included in the room, and a place not far from George Square.

Choosing T-Shirt

Fabirc: [t-shirt-buyers-guide.org]

The figure on top is Combed Cotton Fibers. The figure at the bottom is Carded Cotton Fibers. The firs one is more preferable because the longer, thinner, more even fiber is knitted. It is softer and lighter. In addition the printability of the combed cotton (figure below on the left) is more ideal.

See more fabric guide at [americanapparel.net]

Shrinking:
[t-shirmart.com]
  • Cotton polyester blend will shrink less than 100% cotton
  • Heavyweight t-shirt will shrink less than lightweight
Tips:
  • The Quality printed t-shirt to resist fading at least through 36 washes. To minimize fading, turn garments inside out while washing and drying. [t-shirmart.com]
Pilling:
The appearance of little bumps of fibers on the surface of the garment. Pilling only occurs on shirts knitted with a cotton polyester yarn.

Annoying group mail

Some EuMI seniors mentioned about annoying group mail because 2007's conversations.. Their opinion, I respect.
Anyway, I use "daily digest", so I got only an e-mail a day. Quite comfortable, isn't it?

Letter of Acceptance

Last Friday, Mr.Valenzin e-mailed me the letter of acceptance which I must sign and fax back to Trento. I printed and signed and faxed back using 009 (A number of CAT Telecom, Thailand, to save telephone cost.)

P.S. It turns out that I surely got net-centric on University of Edinburgh and RWTH Aachen. That's ridiculous because Ravi wants net-centric, but he got life-centric. It will be great if we can exchange the specialization.

Anyway, it is no turning back now. Come EuMI!

Changing Specialization

Last Friday, I got an e-mail which acknowledge my confirmation on EuMI program. They also notice my specialization: Net-centric at Edinburgh-RWTH. Since I intend to pursue Ph.D. in bioinformatics, I'd rather prefer Life-centric, so I e-mail back to ask if there is a possible way to change the specialization. It is quite surprised because I clearly stated in my statement of purpose that I want Life-centric. (But I also checked net-centric as my other interested area ^^) In addition, I had no network course in my transcript!!! (Because I decided not to pursue in this area. But I still sit-in in Data Communication I and Network Programming sometime.) I suspect that it might be software-engineering courses that motivates committe.

A also got same situation. He got RWTH-Edinburgh while his statement of purpose emphasize his interest in professor at Trento. He hypothesized that it is misplacing in copy-and-paste process of the result. Anyway, the official acceptance will be mailed (not e-mailed) in this week, so we can find out about this.

If I can not change my speciality, it is fine because I formerly decided to skip some course in bioinformatics (namely, bioinformatics I and II because I skim at the syllabus and think that I know most of them.) Thus, I can pursue on Net-centric and have a sit-in in some bioinformatics course. The hard part is the research topics. I have to come up with some project that take advantage from network to benefit biology. Quite exciting!

Today, I found this from reading Shirley's blog.
EuMI Google Group
One recent entry in this blog ask about changing specialization. I bet the questioner got the same problem as us. May be, it is because copy-and-paste error. Huh?

Update: Mr. Luca Valenzin, EuMI School Secretariat e-mailed me about this. He will inquire this for me, but it may not be able to change. This, indirectly, confirm that it is not the copy-and-paste mistake. I will try to come up with my study plan this night.

Started Here

Hello,

This blog is intended to note as most things as possible about my life* and EuMI (European Master of Informatics). This is a program under Erasmus Mundus Program that gives me an opportunities to obtain the master degree from two universities in Europe.

The inspiration of this blog came from other's former EuMI student blogs namely:

I found useful information there and I intend to make my information available for those who aims to join this program in upcoming years. This blog is in English for two purposes: to convey to most audiences around the world as possible, to improve my English writing skill.

Since I am Thai, some information may tend to be especially useful for Thai student. So, the international one who visit this blog, please don't be annoyed. Also, if you are Thai and want to know more about me, please visit my blog (http://inmo-khem.blogspot.com) which is written in Thai.

I also have a friend that got this scholarship too. He plan to write the blog about his life. I will give you the link when it is up.

Lastly, all visitor, please drop me a comment on entries. This will show me and other readers the way you think and the different between perspectives from people around the world. This will make this more valuable for mankind.

* Me. I am a Thai graduate student whom awarded EuMI scholarship in 2007-08. I was graduate from Chulalongkorn University majored in Computer Science. My academic goal so far is to pursue Ph.D. in bioinformatics and come back to teach and research in Thailand. I wish I can improve my country in both academically and morally.
